Concept
If the MEME500 machinery works — fees to treasury, treasury to basket, basket to NAV — it works for any basket. Phase III generalises it. Any participant may issue a new index under the MemeRock issuance layer. Each index is:
- a Pons token with its own ticker and pool;
- backed by its own Index Treasury, funded by its own creator fees;
- governed by a published methodology, which may be as narrow as “cats” or as broad as “everything launched this week”;
- subject to the same eligibility floor as the MEME500, so that the factory cannot be used to launder a rug into an index;
- ratified by the same token-gated community vote that governs the MEME500: a factory index’s initial composition and subsequent reconstitutions are proposed by its issuer and approved by $MROCK holders above the holding threshold, weighted by staked balance.
Cross-index economics
A share of every factory index’s creator fees is directed to the $MROCK buyback, and therefore to the MEME500 treasury. In this design $MROCK becomes the index of indexes: exposure to the growth of the whole issuance layer, not one basket.
| Flow | From | To | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creator fees | Factory index trading | That index’s treasury | Vision |
| Issuance share | Each factory index’s fees | $MROCK buyback | Vision |
| Basket distributions | Each factory index’s treasury | Its stakers | Vision |
| Composition votes | Issuer proposals | $MROCK holders above threshold, staked weight | Vision |
Illustrative examples
- MEMECAT10 — capped index of feline-sector constituents.
- NEWLISTINGS — equal-weighted, thirty-day-rolling basket of tokens that passed eligibility this month.
- HOODBLUECHIP — the five largest-liquidity memecoins on the chain, market-cap weighted, max 40%.
These are examples of what the factory would permit, not announcements.
What MemeRock is in Phase III
The issuance layer: the methodology template, the eligibility floor, the treasury contract, the publication standard. MemeRock does not choose which indexes are launched. It defines what an index has to look like to carry the crest.
Open questions
Phase III is a vision in part because these are not resolved:
- Whether the eligibility floor should be enforced on-chain or by committee review.
- How the issuance share is set, and whether it is fixed or index-specific.
- Whether factory indexes are permitted to hold $MROCK or each other.
- What prevents a hundred indistinguishable indexes from being launched on the same afternoon, and whether that is a problem.
